Ugh. Still not sure if we'll get the boards up to our satisfaction with the current configuration. Lots of issues with maintenance and what not. But we did manage to integrate Disqus for commenting which seems like a good idea and looks pretty snazzy. Its used by most local papers so folks should find the learning curve easy to deal with.

The bulletin boards are back up. Not sure if we're going to keep using PHP-Boards or switch to something else. Darn you! Russian porn spammers! If anyone has any idea how to get them boards rocking, -- let us know.

Our somewhat off-topic story - about a "Daily Show" Producer bitch-slapping a "Truther" - took off like a V2 rocket. We made the front page of Gawker and PerezHilton. Valley Scanner traffic went unrealistically through the roof for a day or two. We should have integrated our monetization plans a bit sooner. Early next year we start taking ads. Our traffic numbers look promising enough, although the market appears like it will be in the doldrums for the foreseeable future.

Many lazy weeks into the sweltering summer, we have returned. Summer vacation is fading away and we're itching to start opening up cans of whoop-ass on some very specific folks.

Still tweaking things here so if certain features vanish, have patience, they will return. I guess we're still in what interweb designers call the "beta stage." I'm all about Joomla, but their is a learning curve involved. Beats cranking the mimeograph machine.
